Junko SUZUKI

20. EX-REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

Since 1987, figures of genes and chromosomes have figured prominently in the artwork of Junko Suzuki. She writes, "It was due to the needing of an image of a GENOME for my own origins as well as a requiem for my father who had passed away that year." This work is part of a series exploring the X and Y chromosomes. She writes: "In the genetic process, chromosome Y commits to the reproduction of the next generation. This point stimulates our thoughts on gender decision and on recent genetic engineering."
