I have downloaded MGLTools-1.5.6rc1 (a nightly build) in order to see how it is going to function on my MBP. It was a little bit unstable, so in order to avoid problems in future, i deleted it and then tried to install the stable version of MGLTools - MGLTools-1.5.4. I could not do it because the install manager kept saying that i already have a new version installed on my MBP.

Can u please provide me with some information about how i can remove all the files associated with MGLTools-1.5.6rc1 version so i can install the old version again? I deleted MGLTools-1.5.6rc1 from the applications and from the macintoshHD/library but it did not help.

best regards alexey

P.S. : Used .dmg file for installation

Thanks for the post. This is a generic problem with Mac apps in that there is no uninstall available. I added a link to http://nbcr.sdsc.edu/pub/wiki/index.php?title=CADD_FAQ from http://mgltools.scripps.edu/downloads/instructions/mac. Please let us know if this helps.

Mr. Sargis,

I solved this problem. When you uninstall MGLTools 1.5.6 rc1 (latest nightly build), you have to remove MGLTools directory from

1./User/username/Applications/MGLTools
2. Remove MGLTools folder from MacintoshHD/Library/MGLTools

now the "tricky" part:

MGLTools installer on MAC OSX 10.6.4 adds several invisible files to the Macintosh HD drive. These two files - MGLTools.bom and MGLTools.plist are located in MacintoshHD/Private/var/db/receipts. You dont see this folder because it is a hidden folder. You have to remove this two files too.

Then you can install an older version of MGLTools etc 1.5.4 on your MAC

best regards alexey

Thanks Alexey! This would be very useful for other Mac users as well.
