I'm new to blender. I downloaded the standalone version epmv-blender-2.49b-Linux_x86_64-py2.5 on Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS.
However when I launch it the entire blender window is transparent, even the menus.

I cannot figure out why this is happening?
When launching ePMV prints out just one error:

./epmv-blender: 1: ./epmv-blender: /home/aldol/epmv-blender-2.49b-Linux_x86_64-py2.5/bin/archosv: not found
setting PYTHONHOME environment
Compiled with Python version 2.5.5.
Checking for installed Python... got it!

I am attaching a screenshot.

Any suggestions?

Thanx in Advance !

I will suggest you should wait for blender 2.6.
I am currently working on it, and should release soon.
