Here am I again !

I am trying to export glucose.pdb using collada 1.4 format, to include it into an Ibook for my students (Ibooks author only allows .cae files).
The whole process seems to works great (without changing any default settings) but when i import the glucose.dae file, the molecule appears in grey color.

I am conscient that i am asking a lot (end perhaps this forum isn't the right place), but have you any idea to fix this ?

Hi,

what is the representation you are trying to export ? spheres ? ball and sticks ? surfaces ?
if its spheres and cpk, the material should be exported along the sphere. If it is a surface you need to back the material to a textured materials before exporting....

Sorry for this long silence, but i have had a lot of work to do last 2 weeks.

So, i have tried spheres end ball and sticks : always the same issue. The collada file show molecules with without any color excepting grey.

the problem come from the fact that in cinema4D I used instances of instances of instances to display spheres and cylinder.
thus the materials binding get lost at exportation. While I was working on another project, I actually re-enable an old option in ePMV which let you build actual sphere instead of instances of sphere.
This actually solve this issue. This should be in the next update of the plugin..

I attached the collada with both cpk and ball/sticks.

I am also hoping to export models created using ePMV in C4D as Collada files for use in iBooks Author, but so far I haven't been successful. Would you have any tips, advice or strategies for doing so? Any resources you found particularly useful? Also, have you tried anything beyond the default free/vertical/horizontal object rotations?

Hi,

the best way will be convert to mesh everything. It seems that iBooks dont recognize the instance system of C4D exported in collada.
