I tried to install ePMV on Maya 2011 Mac OSX.

I followed the instructions:
- installed mgltools_i86Darwin9_1.5.6.dmg
- ePMV downloaded and copied the "ePMV" and "pyubic" folders to /Library/MGLTools/1.5.6rc1/MGLToolsPckgs folder. Read/Write permission enabled for MGLTools ("Apply to enclosed items" selected)
- "Maya" application duplicated and named "Maya32", "Open in 32-bit mode" turned on in Get info
- Maya 2011 32 bit launched, Script Editor opened, File:Source Script… selected,
- In browser "install_plugin.mel" selected in "/Library/MGLTools/1.5.6rc1/MGLToolsPckgs/ePMV" folder
- File name: install_plugin.mel, Files of type: Mel files, I clicked "Open"
- I got error message in the Script editor: # Error: ImportError: No module named numpy (see Script Editor-1.jpg)
Installation stoped.

I have Python 2.6.1 installed checked in Terminal: (see also Path Finder-1.jpg)

Last login: Sun Jun 12 20:19:33 on console

ePMV looks impressive and I would try it but I could not install it from Maya… No idea what is wrong. Could anybody help me? Thanks.

Hi,

sorry you didnt get it working.
I will try to reproduce the error, and will let you know once I found a solution.
meanwhile you can give me more information by resourcing the script but after activating all option in the console, History->all four first options on

hi,

I think I know what happen, you place ePMV and pyubic in the Application folder, but you have to place it in the /Library folder.
When you have installed mgltools_i86Darwin9_1.5.6.dmg, the installation have created one application folder which refer to the library folder.
So try to put epmv and pyubic in /Library/MGLTools/1.5.6/MGLToolsPckgs and try again the installation from /Library/MGLTools/1.5.6/MGLToolsPckgs/ePMV/install_plugin.mel

If you still have the numpy error, we will next modify the script to take in account your numpy installation.

Hi Ludo,

Thank you very much your help. I removed MGLTools and made a clean install. It is in the Library folder for sure. I copied "eMPV" and "pyubic" folders into /Library/MGLTools/1.5.6rc1/MGLToolsPckgs/ folder (see attached "MGLTools_installed.rtf" file). Unfortunately it is still not working ( see below "/Library/MGLTools/1.5.6rc1/MGLToolsPckgs/ePMV/install_plugin.mel line 6: No module named numpy"). I appreciate any help. Thanks. Peter

hi,

can you try this one. Just unzip the file in the ePMV folder. I add a line to take in account numpy package.
Let me know if it fix the problem, and if you see the litle gui for installation....for which you just have to click install.

Thanks Ludovic! We are moving forward with your help. Your script worked in a way that I could step forward. The installation went smoothly. I restarted Maya. I can see the ePMV icon under the Custom tab. When I clicked on it I have got this error message:

Hi peter,

the error is just because the epmv plugin is not loaded....the autoload didnt work I guess.
So here is how to load the plugin (or any plugin by the way) once maya is open :
- go to Window->Settings/Preferences->Plug-in Manager
- you should a list of available plugin, and you should see epmv_maya_plugin.py
- in front of epmv_maya_plugin.py check both Loaded and AutoLoad (when you check Loaded the system will freeze while ePMV is loaded).
- try to run ePMV from the icon and fecth 1crn to see if it work....

Let me know if you encounter any error

Hi Ludovic,

You are absolutely right man! I forgot it. Now I turned on epmv_maya_plugin.py (load/autoload) and I tried to Fetch "1crn".
The program did not recognize the 4 letter PDB code:
False
didn't exist try another ID
fetch None

Nothing appears in the "perps" window...

Apparently it has problem with "APBSVolumeRender" (see attached image) as well.
Also I guess there is problem with these:
noModeller
noAutoFill
noARViewer
no pymol

We are almost there, but it would be nice to dowload/fetch PDB files and they should appear in the program. Thank you.
