I followed all the steps and installed the plugin and it gave success message. But it is not showing up in the Python menu in Cinema 4D R 12. See screenshot of console with error message. please help me fix it.

Hello to the forum,

today I tried to install ePMV plugin in C4D R12 64-bit and everything seems allright. But when I started C4D, it shows
"Patching MGLToolsPckgs with python 2.6 system dependant modules
click OK to continue
and be patient"
This message appears 2 times.

I clicked OK and C4D starts, but if I start Python Plugins, it's empty. The plugin-manager shows 3 entries of different epmv polugins with a little x in front of it.
I tried both installation procedures, but it doesn't work anyway.

What can I do?

Thanks, Highlander2000

Hey there,
I had exactly the same problem but was able to solve it, following Ludo's advise in the "problem installing ePmv in c4dR12 win7 64bit" thread page 2:
-Get Python2.66 and install it
-Copy the entire Python26 directory to C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res and rename it to "Python.win32.framework" replacing the existing folder there
-make sure there's a file name "patched" in the C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res directory

That worked for me. And remember, the ePMV plugin only works in the 32bit version of Cinema4D and won't show up in the 64bit version.

Hi splette,
I followed your instructions and it is the same as before. It shows the file "patched" but the python plugins stays empty. Plugin Manager shows 3 plugins with the little x in front of it.

Perhaps there may be another way to solve this problem.

Hi,
did you check which error message you get in the python console in C4D (if any)? I got a very similar one than in the screenshot above: 'import multiarray'
If you get another one, then maybe your problem is a different one.

But I guess only Ludo or Graham would know...

hy there,

@shibi76 you need to launch Cinema4D in 32 bits mode...follow this procedures :
* Find the Cinema 4D application on your hard drive in a finder window. (Usually under /Applications/MAXON)
* select the CINEMA4D.app file
* In the main apple menu, click File>GetInfo
* Check the "Open in 32 bit mode" box
* In the C4D folder, you can duplicate the application and run one as 32 bits for ePMV and one as 64 bits for other work.
o If you need ePMV content in 64 bits, you can have both versions open at once and save the 32 bit files to merge into your 64 bit documents.

@Highlander2000 : as splette says check the console after starting Cinema4d (32bits), and post the screenshot to see whats the problem. Btw you should see only one Py-ePMV item under the Python->plugins menu. Check your plugin directory see whats going on also. You should only see one directory call epmv.

@splette : thanks for helping on the forum ! and I am glad to see that you get it working.

Ludovic

hi ludo,

I checked the plugin folder and it shows only "epmv". Content within the folder is:
CVS <DIR>
res <DIR>
epmv.pyp
epmv_c4d_plugin.py
epmv_c4d_plugin.pyp
epmv_synchro.pyp
epmv_update.py
mgltoolsdir
pmv.tif

And there is a screenshot of the Python Console. Python > plugins doesn't show any plugin, Python > plugin-manager shows 3 items with the little x in front of it.

Thanks
Highlander2000

hi Highlander2000

ok look like the patch didn't properly work.
Ok in your epmv plugin folder there is a file call mgltoolsdir, open it and check if the directory specify here is the one where you have the MGLTools pacakges installed (in your case F:\Tools not F:\Tools\MGLToolsPckgs).Corrected it if needed.
Then go in your F:\Tools\MGLToolsPckgs directory. Check if theses two files exists : depdtPckgs.tar and patched. If they do delete them.
Restart C4D and Let me know whats says the console.

Hi Ludovic,
I corrected the path in mgltoolsdir and I deleted depdtPckgs.tar and patched. After restarting C4D it took several minutes and C4D shows a runtime error and then works but the python > plugins is empty. I took a picture with console open, plugin-manager open and python > plugin open.

The formerly deleted files can be found again in MGLToolsPckgs directory.

Thanks
Highlander

ok sound a litlle better.
in case you didnt have Cinema4d python2.6.6 patched :
Get Python2.66 http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.6/python-2.6.6.msi
Install it
Go the "C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res" directory
verify that you have the original framework (Python.win32.framework.original). If you dont rename Python.win32.framework to Python.win32.framework.original.
The copy the full C:\\Python26 folder to C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res\
and rename it to Python.win32.framework.
Verify that there is a file name patched in the C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res directory
If you already have done it , try to install numpy directly : http://sourceforge.net/projects/numpy/f ... e/download
in both case you need the 32bit version not the 64bits
