Hi there,

Last days i've tried multiple times to install the ePmv plugin in C4D R12 64bit. But no succes. tried different ways and different packages.

Last attempt was with the archief made at 17-11-10 (link [1] from the page h--p://mgldev.scripps.edu/projects/ePMV/wiki/index.php/Installation) so should be release 1.5.6

When I try to run ePmvInstall.bat as administrator, the command line screen appears in a blink and nothing happens.
When I just double-click ePmvInstall.bat the command line screen appears and starts to compile (I think). After some time the installer starts and I can choose c4dR12. When I run install, the plugins are copied to the pluginfolder.

But the command screen gives the following message:
Code:
D:\Downloads\MGLToolsPckgs\MGLToolsPckgs\Pmv\hostappInterface>C:\Python26\python
.exe install_plugin.py

And when I start C4D the phython console tells me:

In the plugin manager the two plugins are labled with a cross.

I hope you can help for I would rely like to try out this very nice plugin.
The video-demo is very good.

Thanks
Ed

Hi ed,

thanks a lot for your interest.
Look like the installer cant find the correct path to the python framework of Cinema4D.
We are currently thinking on a easiest way to do the installation and deal with all theses path problems.
So you can wait for this new installation process, or you can try to manually trick/install.

If you want to manually do it, here are the steps:
-1 rename Python.win32.framework to Python.win32.framework.ori (in C:\Program Files\CINEMA 4D app folder/resources/modules/python/)
-2 get http://mgldev.scripps.edu/projects/ePMV ... y26win.tar and extract in CINEMA 4D app folder/resources/modules/python/, witch should give you the patch python.win32.framework
-3 open epmv.pyp in C:\Users\a v abn\Application Data\\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo_0E6F67AE CINEMA 4D R
12\plugins\epmv\epmv.pyp
at the begining of the file you should see MGL_ROOT=""
replace by MGL_ROOT="D:\Downloads\MGLToolsPckgs"

I tried your solution but to bad it did not work.

stil getting:
Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Python26\lib\lib-tk\Tkinter.py", line 1410, in __call__
    return self.func(*args)
File "install_plugin.py", line 244, in install
    self.funcInstall[i]()
  File "install_plugin.py", line 672, in installC4dr12
    os.rename(patchpath+name1,patchpath+name2)
WindowsError: [Error 3] The system cannot find the path specified

I'll be waiting impatiently for the new installer ;-)

hi ed,
the step i decribe you was for installing manually the plugin.
if you did folllow the step, you should be able to see the plugin in Cinema4D.
Can you check if its working.

Yep, understood that.

I get:
Code:
'epmv.pyp' occured the following error:
  File "epmv.pyp", line 1
    """
                        ^
SyntaxError: unexpected character after line continuation character
'epmv_synchro.pyp' occured the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "epmv_synchro.pyp", line 7, in <module>
ImportError: No module named Pmv.hostappInterface.cinema4d_dev

back from the python console.

I've also tried the "easy installation" method. But when I restart C4D I get no "screen instructions"

hi ed,

looks strange.
the "easy installation", hope its easier is currently in the cvs but is not on the mgltools website (the current for windows is 2010/11/17 not 2010/11/26) until then you will have to wait.
But i will send you the require file so you can try and let me know if its working on your system it will save me some times.

in attachment you will find an archive that contain the plugin updated and the install_plugin.py script file updated. Decompress the archive in the MGLToolsPckgs/Pmv/hostappInterface. overwrite when ask
then browse to cinema4_dev and copy the plugin directory to the cinema4d/plugin directory (in your home directory : C:\Users\a v abn\Application Data\\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo_0E6F67AE\plugins). You can delete the previous epmv directory.

Start cinema4d. before c4d finish starting he will load the plugin, and ask you where is MGLTools. and the will check if the python.framework has been patched.
If you get error, its will be because I had to send you over file that you dont have up to date....
thanks for helping

Ludovic

Hi Ludovic
First of all let me say Thanks for all the help.

Perhaps its better for me to wait for the next update for I can't get it to work.
I've extracted the files from "update.zip" at the appropriate places. C4D askes where MGLToolsPckgs is, I point it to "C:\Program Files\MAXON\MGLToolsPckgs" (I've moved the folder from "D:\Downloads" to "C:\Program Files\MAXON"), but when I open the python-console it tells me:
Code:
'epmv_c4d_plugin.pyp' occured the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "epmv_c4d_plugin.pyp", line 63, in <module>
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\Users\\a v abn\\AppData\\Roaming\\MAXON\\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo_0E6F67AE\\plugins\\epmv\\mgltoolsdir'
'epmv_synchro.pyp' occured the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "epmv_synchro.pyp", line 7, in <module>
ImportError: No module named Pmv.hostappInterface.cinema4d_dev

If you want to try some other things, by all means, but if you think it takes away to much time from the real devopment, I'll wait for the next release.
Thanks again and hope it work in the end.

Ed

Hi ed,

I forgot a last step. The plugin directory you have copy in the C4D plugin directory ('C:\\Users\\a v abn\\AppData\\Roaming\\MAXON\\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo_0E6F67AE\\plugins\\plugin) can you rename it to epmv.
that should fix the problem.

No I made the mistake, I renamed the plugin-folder to pmv. After I renamed it to epmv it patched to python but ran into the next problem:

python console:
Code:
C:\Program Files\MAXON\MGLToolsPckgs
C:\Program Files\MAXON\MGLToolsPckgs\MGLToolsPckgs\
'epmv_c4d_plugin.pyp' occured the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "epmv_c4d_plugin.pyp", line 83, in <module>
  File "C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res\Python.win64.framework\lib\urllib.py", line 94, in urlretrieve
    return _urlopener.retrieve(url, filename, reporthook, data)
  File "C:\Program Files\MAXON\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo\resource\modules\python\res\Python.win64.framework\lib\urllib.py", line 242, in retrieve
    tfp = open(filename, 'wb')
IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\Program Files\\MAXON\\MGLToolsPckgs\\MGLToolsPckgs\\depdtPckgs.tar'
'epmv_synchro.pyp' occured the following error:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "epmv_synchro.pyp", line 7, in <module>
ImportError: No module named Pmv.hostappInterface.cinema4d_dev

After this moved the contents of C:\Program Files\MAXON\MGLToolsPckgs\ in a newly created folder "MGLToolsPckgs"
so the path "C:\\Program Files\\MAXON\\MGLToolsPckgs\\MGLToolsPckgs\\depdtPckgs.tar" would exist.
restarted C4D. It started patching again, but now it hangs on "initializing plugins"

hey ed,

so here is the first problem:
1-when you are asked for where is MGLTools, you need to give the directory where you can find MGLToolsPckgs. In your case :C:\\Program Files\\MAXON\\
2-you need to run Cinema4D 32 bits executable and not the 64bits

So to fix this you can in the plugin directory (epmv)'C:\\Users\\a v abn\\AppData\\Roaming\\MAXON\\CINEMA 4D R12 Demo_0E6F67AE\\plugins\\epmv' and remove the file mgltoolsdir

start gain (in 32bits mode), provide the right path and let me know.
