thanks for the file, it was nice to see how you use the cartoon shader.
is your plugin cinema4d r11.5 or r12? I was unable to make it work...

did you play around with epmv yet ? any comments ?

Hi Ludovic,

if I remember correctly, the plugin should be version 11,

I tried to use epmv, but I have some problem, the large files totally block the application.

So now I prefer to export files from PMV in VRML format and import them into blender.

well yes, any large file will kill or freeze c4d if you try to display Spacefill or Ball&Stick. It will be the same using VRML, no ?
how large are your file ?
can you send me an example?
which version of blender ?

I have work with a really huge system which was aquaporine in lipid bilayer and water for looking at a molecular dynamic, and it work well using the points cloud and the coarse molecular surface...

Hi Ludovic,

I use the VRML format just to load large files in blender,

unfortunately the problems in the use of large files remain :|

here the example file (7.52 MB):

http://www.mediafire.com/?0k23temxcefkwmn

Blender version is 2.49, because in 2.5 VRML format is not supported.

HI enzo,

thanks for the file...Actually its a Bug!
the mslib is making a segmentation fault even in PMV...I remove the automatic computing of the SAS using mslib and was able to load the molecule in BLender, c4d etc...and compute the point cloud, the coarseMS...

I will made some screenshot...

I am just curious, what representation you are exporting in VRML ? cartoon, cpk, surface ?

According the size of the ribosome, the visualize option are limited.
But that ok, in C4d we can even have some atomic details....

Hi Ludovic,

wow, the last screenshot is wonderful!!!

Can you rotate and translate it easily? My PC would die instantly

I'd love to use the atomic vision, but I have to be satisfied so:

http://www.mediafire.com/?qripswcoou21j3q

This is how to display that amount with VRML format, I can not have more :(

A question, but how can I make the lines visible in the rendering without using mesh (in blender)?

hi enzo,

yes you can. And C4d have this special dynamic effect in realt-time, if the scene is too big, he will display the lower resolution object when you rotate.

>A question, but how can I make the lines visible in the rendering without using mesh (in blender)?
I am working on it. a little extrusion should make it...I have to test.

About your file. Thats interesting, the VRML import convert the polyline in a Curve object. If you want to render it, simply paste a Curve circle (with a really small radius) in the Bevel Object (BevObj) of the Curve (extrusion). then you should be able to see it render.

There is a line representation in ePMV for bender, but its a mesh, difficult to render, thus I will probably replace the current Line display with this in blender-ePMV.

thanks
Ludovic
